Jonesborough trail to connect with Tweetsie TrailThe Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen discussed Monday a project to connect Johnson City’s Tweetsie Trail to Jonesborough’s own trail. Governor Lee’s 2024 2025 budget allocated $2.4 million for the First Frontier Trail. A letter of agreement for the initial project was approved by the board during the meeting. The Tweetsie Trail currently is around 10 miles through Johnson City and Elizabethton. Carter County leaders are working to expand the trail near Hampton and now, with Monday’s approval, Jonesborough has signaled its intent to develop toward the west end of the trail.
