Located on the ninth floor of the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Downtown, the Biergarten rooftop bar officially opened for the season last month, featuring a bar menu heavy with German beers and tropical co*cktails, and a German-influenced food menu, including its standout giant soft pretzel, served with beer cheese and dijon. This season, they’re open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m.

Farmer x Baker

Enjoy the breeze from the Allegheny River at Farmer x Baker’s Riverwalk cafe in Allegheny RiverTrail Park. Serving breakfast and lunch out of a repurposed shipping container, Farmer x Baker is open seasonally, with outdoor seating along the water. This spring, it introduced a fully vegan/vegetarian menu at its Aspinwall location (it also has a market location in O’Hara), with menu items like the celery root Reuben sandwich and seasonal vegetable frittatas. Il Tetto, Sienna Mercato’s rooftop bar area, has 32 drafts on tap, plus a full menu of co*cktails, wine and light bites. With a retractable glass roof, Il Tetto is technically open year-round, but visiting it when it’s open-air during the warmer months is the best time to go. Il Tetto is open for the season on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 10 p.m., Thursdays from 4 p.m. to midnight, Fridays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Situated right on Marshall Lake in North Park, OTB Bicycle Cafe has an extensive patio with lovely waterfront views. Their outdoor dining space is open year-round (heaters and fire pits add warmth in the winter), and OTB is open Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Mr. Stripe or Ms. Star, a pair of bald eagles that frequent the lake, as well as another one simply named the Visitor.
